It was with a sense of deja-vu that I read today that Optimal Energy's electric car the "Joule" has been mothballed, when it was first announced my first thought was "here's another Hamilton Airship fiasco". Mind you Optimal Energy are still going to try and get more money out of us taxpayers by trying to convert the technology for electric buses.
The Hamilton Airship was one of many grandiose "made in South Africa" schemes (including P.E.s own malaria wristwatch http://theweekendpost.com/tag/malaria-wristwatch/) that have conned South Africans out of their money. How anybody could have believed a airship, rigid or otherwise, was practical in this day and age is beyond me.
