I am currently in a scenario where i can get something like M-Net/DSTV which is R400+ a month + the actual installation/decoder costs. From experience having DSTV at my parents i know i actually watch extremely selectively as things are repeated endlessly and not what i really want to see at a particular time. Simply put : DSTV is too much fluff and stuff i will never use, i rather pay R400 to see -only- what i want to see
[i.e renting R400s worth of movies a month at a local shop] .

Lately now i see all these VLive adds and stuff, but
(a) you need a >>specific<< cellphone for that
(b) i don't want to watch tv on a cellphone, period.

What other options are there, will there be [or are there] "subscription" based options where i don't pay per MB but per episode/movie/show for us people who actually have a huge LCD screen and HSDPA internet....*hint hint*
?

Bottom line : I am wiling to spend R400 a month on a broadband subscription service where i can pick from a range of episodes/movies to watch INSTEAD of paying R400 to DSTV (ON TOP of my internet costs, which is what it effectively boils down to if i get DSTV). Purely because it would be more convenient [any place, any PC like device] and specific [i pick what i want to see, either pay per channel or per episode etc] .

It is still too expensive to download episodes via iTunes/Amazon/P2P [it costs more to download than the actual purchase, so much so that buying the entire DVD series is much more viable [ie. Alias season x goes for R300-R500 per SEASON] .
