I know of about 800 Managers and Directors from the top to about 3rd and 4th tier levels that got the axe last year simply because they are white.
They had to reapply for their jobs after years of service and were then told to vacate their offices, some only by means of an email.
The firing of Mgoqi is not revenge.
He was simply a buffoon who didn't do his job, unlike the other people that had to leave with all the collective knowledge of how Council works.
The entry of the Honourable Mayor Helen Zille may be a ray of hope for the Cape of Good Hope. She is intelligent, educated and has the energy to drive Cape Town to bigger and better things.
The ANC should remember one thing.
The public knows what they did behind closed doors.
There are people that are watching and taking notes and were not impressed the way you ran Cape Town. Your exit was not soon enough IMO.
Once the day politics are removed from Local Government, only then will things change for the better.
Dont they have a zoo in CT:D :D

Well he certainly should be fired - here is the latest scandal which he was involved in while City Manager:
Attorneys for axed city manager Wallace Mgoqi have requested a settlement package of R750 000 in exchange for the termination of his contract, according to court papers.
.................................................. ..
Mgoqi said Zille's public allegations against him that he simply wanted to hold out for a "substantial golden handshake" was most insulting to him and his family, in view of the fact that he had declined an offer made by Sekunjalo Investments Holding for the position of executive director for business development on January 20 this year.
"The package would have been for R1.3 million per annum, which is in contrast to the R1 146 million per annum (gross) which I received from the (City of Cape Town) for the 2004/2005 financial year."
Anyone see the irony in this?

He says one thing, but means another?
He must be a politician.
/Rant on
All I see is my Rates going to fund Mr Mgoqi's legal team when clearly service delivery in Cape Town is at a dismal low.
Since 2000 The City of Cape Town has increased Rates exponentially. But..
The ANC led Council over the last few years has channelled the bulk of this revenue towards the areas presumed to be their voters. The rest of Cape Town got a slap in the face as the ANC Council took our money to further their aims and the paying public must accept the bare minimum of services.
Our area is filthy and services are worse now than in the days when one didn't have to take out a Mortgage to pay your Rates.
Maybe this is acceptable to some, but since when must Ratepayers pay for housing? Housing should be a Provincial and National Function or at least funded by them?
Who changed the rules?
We pay rates to keep our areas clean and serviced by the Local Authority.
We pay taxes to National Government to do the rest.
Local government can be used as an Agency to channel funds from Provincial and National Government to fund projects like the N2 Gateway Project.
If a Local Council uses Ratepayers Money to further Political Projects then they are essentially stealing from The Ratepayers and that is what has been happening.
Phone The Council and ask/tell anyone there that a certain street in your area has no pavements, storm water drainage and poses a health risk to the residents and their stock standard answer will be that there is no money.
/Rant off
BTTB,ek dink jy moet daai klong so hard gaan klap dat sy "kiekie" uit sy id boek uitval:D en lat sy snot tot agter sy kop spat.:D
Ya. :p
I know it is primitive, but sometimes a good hard snot klap can sometimes do the trick?
The only problem is that we may get some temporary satisfaction out of releasing some testosterone, but they have in the interim squandered all our money, got a golden handshake and a Council Pension to boot, while we as the residents must continue to extend our overdrafts, take out a second mortgage to fund all of this.
And there is a strong likelihood that the cops will lock you up for your troubles.
You cannot win.
