Expelled ANC Youth League president Julius Malema has claimed the ANC used him for its own purposes before throwing him away, it was reported on Thursday.

eNews reported that Malema told a Friends of the Youth League gathering in Mthatha in the Eastern Cape that he had been mistreated by the ANC's leadership.

Well we all said it, and in fact some journalist told him so a while ago and back then he was all "I'm happy to be used by the ANC" or something along those lines. Only now that he's been kicked off the gravy train by the conductor suddenly it's a bad thing.

Also he fails, as with so many things, at analogies. A condom prevents nasty stuff from spreading, where he promoted it. If anything he was used more like a rusty old needle shared among 20 heroin junkies.

Malema is right though. Zuma and his cronies used him to get rid of Mbeki and when he started being an embarrasment they turfed him. It is a good lesson to anyone who votes for or supports the ANC. The people in power only care about how individuals can keep them rich and in charge.

The fact that this happened to someone as unpleasant as Malema doesn't change the underlying lesson to be learned here.
