May 12 2006 at 01:05AM
Schoolchildren stumbled across the body of hijacked Lenasia motorist Thameshan Arungasamy, 19, in a veld in De Deur on Thursday afternoon, Johannesburg police said.
He had been shot at least once in the head, said Senior Superintendent Mary Martins-Engelbrecht.
Arungasamy went missing eight days ago. He was last seen in his father's car with his friend, Romeo Padayachee, 20, on the night of Wednesday, May 3.
Padayachee was found shot dead alongside Grasmere Road the next morning during a police search launched after the car was found abandoned in Lenasia.
Two Eldorado Park people were arrested that day and a third was taken into custody in Lenasia South on Saturday, said Martins-Engelbrecht.
All three appeared in the Vereeniging Magistrate's Court on Monday on two charges of murder, two of kidnapping, robbery with aggravating circumstances, possession of a fire-arm and ammunition without a licence.
They were remanded and the case postponed to May 19.
Martins-Engelbrecht said the search for Arungasamy continued unsuccessfully.
His body was found by schoolchildren in a veld near the Sweet Waters informal settlement on Thursday afternoon. The scholars called the police.
She said the motive for the murders was not yet known. - Sapa
