An interesting mix of old school sounds with new world lyrics.

With soul filled guitar twangs and old style drum beats it takes you by surprise with modern lyrics ranging from love, hate and the emotional nuances that can be expected from life, love and the general dealings with sex.

There is a certain whimsy about his sound. A unique sound that does not compromise for anyone.
Subjective, uncompromising and gritty with the comfort of old school sounds.

8/10

Agreed; I consider him to be one of the current masters of guitar!

He is incredible.
Took me by surprise when I listened to instrumental sound an then the complete juxtaposition of the lyrics.
Sixteen Saltiness and Love Interruption are perfect examples of his style.

It's when you get past the apparent emo lyrics and listen a bit more that actually "catch on" to his it and accept his uncompromising style.

You must watch the movie/documentary "It Might Get Loud" with him, Jimmy Page and The Edge.

Not that its a bad thing but I find this album to be very similar to The White Stripes. Not singles-played-on-the-radio White Stripes but more the-rest-of-the-great-songs-on-the-album White Stripes. Perhaps indicative of the direction where Jack always wanted to go?

yeah, thanks for fscking that one up by adding The Edge

Man, did i lol when 'the edge' said the riff he played was a bit punk, and JW replied : "there is no punk left in that" and JP replied "well... it's a bit boring, ain't it?"

But yes, Jack White is a genius, have a look at his tour through Canada, "under blackpool lights". You will see in this what it means to only care about the music, he played as hard in sold out venues, as he did in random parks/retirement villages/malls etc.
