Hi there,
I want to host a web server from home. Now I know how to set up all the nitty gritties and such, I am using no-ip.org for a Port 80 redirect to my modem. My problem is this: My modem just refuses the connection. I have tried every possible combination of port forwards, custom forwards etc. Perhaps I am missing a setting on my modem.
Modem: DuoPlus 300WR
Anyone ever used this modem to set this up?
Thanks.

Can you connect to your PC without going through no-ip.org and just using your dynamic IP?

What ISP do you use? Perhaps your ISP is blocking port 80 (for security purposes)?

I know Mweb blocks port 80 if you want to do this. Use a different port and see if it helps, try port 8081 or something like this (I believe 8080 is also blocked on mweb consumer uncapped).

I have the same router and I've had no problem doing what you want. Try as DrJohnZoidberg suggests.

I'm with Telkom. I will try it on port 8081 as 80 and 8080 might be blocked as you said. I feel stupid not trying any other ports lol thanks for the feedback guys.

I'm with Telkom and all ports are open. I must admit it took me a while to get it going at first

Yes. There is an option on your account to disable it though.

I do that with a telkom duo router on a telkom adsl account. I'll check tomorrow what the settings are and post back here...

Are you testing it from 'inside' or 'outside' the router.
If you're testing it via the same router that has the No-IP/redirect it won't work. Get someone else to test it, or just try another means of internet access for the test.

The redirect should work both internally and externally, doesn't matter if the request comes from your computer or another pc on a remote network (unless you set up specific access on your firewall).
