Love the stuff but don't eat it often enough. It is really good for you and makes for a great healthy snack if you can cut the carbs out of whatever you're spreading it on.
I know I say this often but you can make your own which is really easy and delicious. Just flake smoked fish or ordinary fresh, cooked fish into a food processor. Add salt, pepper, cream cheese/sour cream, little mayo, liquid smoke (if you have), fresh herbs of your choice, worcestershire sauce, tabasco sauce, lemon zest, and then blend until it reaches a spreadable texture. Or you can leave it a little chunky if you like - your choice.
You can add any flavourings you like here as well, like wasabi, mustard, roasted garlic, caramelised onions, capers, anchovies, mayo, lime, curry powder/garam masala etc...

The rate you go through that liquid smoke I'm shocked it lasts you as long as you claim.

I find if I get the small bottle it's gone in a flash, but when I buy the big one I have to bin it.

Drop by drop. It is one of my favourite not-so-secret ingredients of late. The marketer in me is subtly trying to make it more mainstream...;)

Anyone tried it in various combinations? I've always treated it as a singular ingredient on toast but I'm sure it would work with a fried egg, bacon, sausauge etc.
Another thing I've noticed is that I don't enjoy it cold on untoasted bread. I much prefer it on toast. Perhaps the heat releases volatile flavour molecules that aren't present at colder temps...?

It's good with honey or syrup - sweet/savoury combo.
It's good on very fresh untoasted bread - but do not put butter margarine on, just spread the fishpaste.

Yay!
Love it on warm toast. Bread is also ok.
At one stage you use to get a 'hot' version with a slight bite in it which was even better but I do not see it around any more.

This liquid smoke sounds interesting... Where do you get it from, is it expensive, and what are its applications?
