MTN has got it free on some contracts now. So you might be able to go have a look at it at one of their outlets. Im planning on getting the N80 when my upgrade is due mid august. Maybe i get lucky and vodacom will have it available by then.

I received mine on a MTN contract a while ago and just love it ...

Constantia Village (CT) say that they should have stock today.
I was keen, but the R2900 outlay (Weekend contract) is a little bit on the silly side for me (I mean, it's not like it won't be obsolete in 2 years). There is also a slight question mark regarding firmware and stability . . .
The E61 seems to have everything that I'm after, at a much better price (albeit slightly more bulky).

I found out it is available with Vodacom - but the pricing on contracts... highly unaffordable for your everyday person!

Yup, my nephew just phoned me, his wife is due for an upgrade and at just under R2000 for the N80 on her contract (not a weekender) she is cancelling Vodacom and going to get a new MTN contract and get the N80 free or pay in R299 depending on the contract.

Yet, the 6280 they will give for free

Eish I just found a special in my old emails. It was free on a R159 / month Mycall 100 contract. They only had 10 units though and it was 3 weeks ago :D

I got that contract from MTN, MyCall 100 @R159,00 per month and once off
R588.00,three weeks ago, then I thought that was expensive, but now its madness. Brilliant phone, I am currently using the phone as my modem to go online.:)

The R588 was not sim and connection fees, because I am a MTN subcriber.
It was for downgrading from PRO120 to Mycall 100.I was on pre paid and I wanted it on mycall 100 and not pro call 120, that is why I had to pay the R588. On pro call 120, it was free @ 285 per month contract.go well:)

Ah nice phone, but no WLAN / Wi-Fi ,Infrared port and HSCSD.nice battery life, Standard battery, Li-Ion 1100 mAh (BP-6M ) better than the N80.It will be your new Christmas box, hope it's on the market in SA by then.

Anyone know who has stock of the N80 at the moment? I'm on the Westrand (Northgate, Cresta, Clearwater mall area). I wanna go with MTN so I dont have to pay anything for the phone.
Thanks,

I went shopping for this phone on saturday. Vodacom wants over R2k on my talk120 and MTN is giving it for R900 and something on a Mycall100. Seems poeple are getting it cheaper so I should shop around perhaps...I'll prob upgrade on my MTN contract (seeing as it's cheaper)!
I need to get it this week.

I borrowed one to play with:
I don't like it, but besides that the person whose one I borrowed, now reports 2 months down the line that the camera is coming loose. The SIM card is a nightmare to remove without long-nosed pliers. Also a very bulky handset.

How on earth would the camera come loose? O_o
So far the phone is wicked. The camera is very good (although loses out slightly due to no autofocus) and the OS is fast and very clean. Hot swapping memory cards works like a dream and up to 2gb works flawlessly.
Most importantly, I love the new snake :D

n90 was out of stock and the n80 kicks it's ass.
I'm now on mtn after having been on vodacom for quite a while. Quite frankly I don't notice any difference nor do I care :)
n80 rocks pants pretty much.

How much did you pay in for the phone? (If you don't mind me asking)
I have a talk120 with v-com but seeing as they want R2400 to upgrade, I'm gonna upgrade on my Mycall100 (R989 for the N80).
I probably should wait, as it will be free across the board in a month or two - but what is life without impulse.

I payed nothing broken :) Bonus of a company cell phone. But I know another reason why we didn't go with the n90 was the R500 pay in. As far as I know we payed nothing.

ja okay so i've been a vodacom customer for a very long time, recently a couple of people here reported you can get the N80 nokia free on a mycall 100 mtn contract and that you must pay in on vodacom, like R2500, so i think mmmmm that cant be right, i called now about 4 vodacom shops including the upgrade centre, all of them agree you must pay in about R2590 if you want it on Weekender (which compares to mycall100) and all of them on the question, why is it R2500 more than on mtn? they either say "eish i dont know sir" or "but we give you free sim card and connection" so ja quite honestly i must say on this mtn beats vodacom hands down and i will defnitalely look at moving to mtn when i upgrade in 2 months time...
bad vodacom, very bad!

It's a sad state of affairs when for a whole month, you can't get the cellphone you want at a decent price. Sure, vodacom shops charging R1839 for the phone have stock - but MTN doesn't, niether does vodaworld. I think it's "false advertising" as their special ends 6 Sept and they don't have phones.

What an interesting twist... some speculations were made, a while back when the price of the N80 was raised, that with the 'free' deals there are no N80 stock and the expensive deals do have N80 stock.
now it appears to be true....
quite interesting indeed

I've been trying for over 3 weeks now. Surely they could get stock?
They probably had 10 at the "free on weekender" price while stocks last and now don't have. They will all magically get stock on the 7th of september when the special ends.
