Sim Card and Data Speeds

Can anybody tell me (especiallt MTN DD) if the sim card you have affects the data speeds you get. I have a prepaid sim which I've been using for about a year now - buying data bundles monthly.

However I've noticed that some of my friends sims say "3G 1.1" whereas mine says 2.5 WIB.

Also, from the VM forum it turns out that 128k sims are better than 64k sims on the VM network.

What about MTN? And how do I update my sim card if it's a prepaid one?

I think the problem they're having is the 64K sims are incompatible with the Huawei cards. The 128K sims are compatible, but made by a different company.
