Hi there,

I'm hoping someone can help me with this. I purchased the Cell C USB modem about a month and a half ago, signed up for a monthly 1gb and started using it. Set up was easy apart from some minor problems and soon I was able to use this service for my home connectivity.

For some strange reason however while I was casually browsing the internet friday night I lost connection and since then I've had issues trying to connect again. I've changed nothing on my side as the connection was working perfectly.

What happens now is that when trying to connect the datacard dials in, get through everything, authenticates and stops at "Projection Started", after a while this times out and a seemingly random error message pops up ranging from "a device connected to your system is not working properly" or "the remote computer refused the connection" or "no connection could be established to the remote computer and your network settings may need to be reconfigured. please contact help or support". Other times it connects but the speed of the connection is awful with frequent time outs.

When looking at the dashboard however I have constant 100% signal and the datacard is fully charged. The connection type also displays the network as EDGE.

Hoping someone from Cell C could offer an explanation as this service is now almost totally unusable.

Are you not perhaps using it in another USB port to the one you originally started with? Some devices go through the entire setup process and some even require the driver disk when moving it to another USB port.

As I said in the original post, I haven't changed anything to on my system before or since I started having this problem. The modem is still in exactly the same port.

Just an update on the situation. I did PM C for yourself who was extremely helpful. I was also contacted by a person from Cell C yesterday but I was unfortunately at work so we couldn't do anything about it, I believe the person was Sebastian. When I did get home last night I was actually able to connect without problems except that instead of the network type being EDGE as it was previously it was now GPRS. I'll try again tonight.

Tried througout the weekend. I can connect and use the service, but my boradband tpye now stays on GPRS regardless of the time of day. Could there be any specific reason why where I was previously connecting at EDGE speeds without a problem I am now only able to connect via GPRS?
