Colomb - Sri Lanka's cricket chiefs and media slammed South Africa on Thursday for pulling out of the tri-series as India looked forward to playing three matches against the hosts.
The Proteas abandoned the tri-series on Wednesday, saying "the current risk to the team is at an unacceptable level" after a blast near their hotel on Monday killed seven people and injured eight.
But Cricket South Africa's assertion that an independent security assessment by a Dubai-based firm agreed with the team's own fears was ridiculed by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) chief executive Duleep Mendis.

well...if two security group recommends not to stay, I doubt it's called 'chickening' out. Really...u could imagine the player's moods there. It's raining, bomb explodes down the road, u stuck in a hotel. Don't think it's something S.Africans are used to. SL officials should've had sympathy for our cricket boys.

Colombo - Fighting in Sri Lanka's north and east and a bombing in the capital left at least 50 people dead on Monday, including 43 schoolgirls killed in what the Tamil Tigers charged was a government air raid on a children's home in rebel territory.
Yeah, a lot of people were killed too. It wasn't just a random bomb.

Lol - looks like Sri Lanka can't play to win on merit - they have to resort to Aussie style verbal games.

Didn't they beat us in the World cup in our own backyard?

Dear Editor,
The South African team leaving Sri Lanke is a true indication of the team as a whole, which is gutless. They are a pampered bunch of South Africans earning too much based on their performances.
How can they take advise from a firm based in Dubai, which drew up the report from Dubai? This is just another reflection of the bad administration of SA cricket. It is a good idea but bad execution.
No wonder our cricket is so bad and they can only beat average teams. Cricket people does not run cricket. I wonder if Ray Jennings were coach would we be on a plane right now. I think not.

Shame, lets send them home, after the hiding they've been getting id also want to come home. Besides the sooner they leave the less embarrassing it is for us, i dont feel like watching another useless performance from our national side.

i fail to understand why it is such an issue if The Boys come back home ...it's only a game after all...and the important part is that they would live to play another game.

There are people getting killed in South Africa too. The issue is that they are getting a thumping and are using this as an excuse, next we will hear about how badly they were distracted and couldnt practise etc - showing us their proffessional sides once again.

yes exactly...dont make assumptions about human reactions if you've never been in that situation before.
If SA were not gonna play cricket on that monday, apparently some of the players would be shopping in that centre that was bombed. Now tell me justinct that wouldn't scare the living day lights out of u...go live in Iraq and come back and tell us how u feel afterwards.
