Fair warning: This post is not intended to offend anyone in anyway so don't latch onto it pupa.
A spell checker would be pretty cool and yeah firefox does have one that you can use. In fact it comes built into bon echo. Forum spell checkers sometimes don't get used as it does require people to click the "spell check" button.
IMO spelling checks should be done at the client-side and not by MyADSL's server - due to the likely [large] increase in bandwidth consumption, solution: as suggested, install an extension that does spelling checks from within your browser.

For Firefox you can use Spellbound (http://spellbound.sourceforge.net/).
It will only work if you install Nightly Tester Tools (http://users.blueprintit.co.uk/~dave/web/firefox/nightly/index.html) to make the outdated version of Spellbound compatible.

Firefox 2 beta2 has a spell checker
Firefox 2 beta2 has a spell checker
Ok! :)
That is good news.
I think Spellbound is a bit long in the tooth, but still adequate to check my posts on this forum. :P

Do your own damn spelling checking
Leave the damn servers alone... they groaning as we speak... can't you hear it... :D
Ok! :)
That is good news.
What about grammar, like in MS Word, anything there that can latch onto IE?

Would be a nice feature to have but it wouldn't be worth it if it puts a lot of strain on the server. I don't post with a spell checker, just too much time/effort setting it up. I try to check my spelling after I type my message, get some errors but miss some. Most of my errors are typo's though, so their fairly easy to spot. So to save everyone some trouble, learn to spell :p
The internet isn't perfect and it never will be. So if you see some silly errors but still understand what is trying to be said, then just ignore it. As long as the message gets through and is understood, what is the problem?
Besides our brain functions in such a way that you can read what is being said even if a word is spelt wrong or the letters inside are muddled up. If you read fast you will know what I mean. Anyone ever see that paragraph that had all the words muddled up? Was an easy read :p
