Why are words like J E S U S, and such censored on this forum?
Test of other religious words:
***** - J esus
Mohammed - M ohammed
God - G od
Christian - C hristian
Buddha - Budd ha

I dunno but it's kind of silly.
I'm a Christian and although I don't like people using the word j e s u s as part of their swearing vocabulary I don't think it should be censored.
If someone believes their god is really "The God" then surely their god is big enough to stand up for himself? If not then why the heck are they following him/her?
Having to defend one's faith with violence and insults is a vote of no confidence.
Oh sorry ... did I just insult someone? :D

So is closing down debates on religious matters. None of us in the "Violence in the bible" had resolved to the normal simple forumite tactic of name calling, and the debate was still on.
People were (for the most part) debating sensibly. So just to get clarification on the matter... are religious debates not allowed on myadsl or what is the justification on closing the thread?
If they are allowed... when do they hit "closed" status, and what are the requirements to get your thread "closed".
This is all rather wierd.

Its pointless, unless the powers that be - not god - dont think people will realise who Jesüs is.

J3sus s name is used as a swear word unlike other religious names afaik, so I'm guessing the forum censors it out in that context as it does most other swear words.

I say remove the censorship. Those insignificant enough to use it as profanity aren't worth the effort. It's up to the individual to decide if he will be offended by its use. It is offending to myself to see it censored.

Hey I wanted to reply in that thread and it got closed. wtf?? As far as I could tell from reading it, there was no personal attacks and no defamatory remarks made towards any beliefs. It was a debate criticising points on both sides. I guess maybe this is a Telkom-bashing forum only, any opinion on any other matter doesn't count.
And yeah censoring the word Jesus is a bit retarded, kinda shows that the forum is biased towards Christianity. I cannot think of any way in which Jesus is used as a swear word. One might blaspheme sure, but they could blaspheme using important figures of other religions too. Abraham, Mohammed, Krishna and Buddha come to mind. Come on man, nobody would like it if the government censored this site for criticising Telkom as well as the government itself right?
Before anybody says anything about these debates not being related to broadband, the thread was posted in off-topic. We contribute to the rest of the forum as well. If this is the case then maybe lock every other topic in off-topic Lock TK and the Afrikaans TK because those threads are not really going anywhere or achieving any specific objective. Or maybe close the whole off-topic section down altogether.

Come on GP, you've never stubbed your toe and said j3sus christ? Thats swearing and generally considered not very nice (not by me mind you but i also say fcck alot). Stupid as that may be, Myadsl is about campaigning for affordable communications and you cant expect it to start pushing the boundries of social acceptabillity.
And seriously, Im pretty sure Muslims dont go around saying Allah when theyre angry or frustrated and Im dead sure christians dont. I stand to be corrected.
My Christmas censorship wishlist: I would like the surnames of all Steves @ Telkodemonopolies to be censored:

I say leave it censored, why? Because people really want to use it as a way of communicating their feelings, let's take the toned down version, Jussus, Jirre, Christ, etc. Those words pop up if the poor sob can't connect to the net, or if someone said something funny and they need an "original" comeback.
I really put thought into this, I'm going to be on my horse everyday shouting: Don't blaspheme against God you sucker!!!! Arrrrggghhhh.
No, think about it, if it's not censored we'll have a forum full of "lasteraars" ;)

So it is not about saying juses or hlel or **** (there is a range of products branded ****), it is about what you intended to say or convey.
