DON'T use the "S" word here ...

Dunno about CPT, but Esquire in JHB have a walk-in shop ("Express" they call it) that's open on Saturdays

What size are you looking for then? Theres a pretty good price on the new Seagate 320Gig from buycomputers, its R1060 and you can collect it or get it shipped cheaply..

Hitatchis are alot cheaper... but the break easily apparently, I;ve never had one though.

dualmeister what are the specs of that HDD, SATAII? 8 or 16mb chache? id be interested but it has to be SATAII, and why are you selling btw, is it because hitatchis are crap?

R799 is too much, IMO.

Buying as a dealer (from Rectum), a 160GB Seagate costs:

PATA: 7200rpm, 8MB - R495 (ex VAT)
SATAII: 7200rpm, 8MB - R525 (ex VAT)

Add VAT and you have prices of R565 and R600 (rounded).
Add whatever margin the dealer decides on and you have prices from R650 to R700 odd (@ 15%).

RE: Hitachi reliability. I have both Seagate and Hitachi drives. The Seagate's are just as good as the Hitachi's. Hitachi and Seagate are the only two manufacturers that big storage companies like EMC will source drives from for inclusion in their SANs / NASs. Says something, IMO. I'd buy either in the future.

Hey, in case you haven't found a new harddrive yet.. I might have a 120gig SATA one to sell you.. but ill see, might not get it or it might take a while.

Anyway Dualmeister, I'm interested!!
But you are probably in JHB, ill PM you anyway.

Maybe in the past, but mine have been very reliable and I have 4 x 250 GIG and a 500 GIG.

Hitachi only has 8MB in 250GIG AFAIK. Their 500GIG has 16MB.

I'm only selling it because I've run out of SATA ports and also I would have to upgrade my PSU if I add more drives now. So I am replacing some of my 250 GIG drives with 500 GIG ones.

It might be sold though. If not I'll put it up for sale on Tues / Wed. I'm in Cape Town.

Hey Guys
Esquire Cape Town branch just sent me the latest special on Hard drives and they flipping amazing , I never realised that there was such a huge price drop on Hard drives , I just bought some seagate 250mb and 750mb and hard drives last week from Rectron, I just hope I will be able to sell them now

I dont know if this applies to the other esquire branches as I know that they have different special for the different branches ,
Seagate 1TB @R1299.00 excl vat

the hard drive enclosures are also not bad priced , although they are IDE but I can make use of some of my old IDE 120gb , 250gb drives as ext storage to my huge collection movies and stuff.
