Well I have dusted off my G4, wiped the worst of the nicotine stains off it, put a Tiger in its tank, and am enjoying my Mac again after a few years of hardly any use.

I am sure I'll be needing advice here soon! Next project - dust off the old beige G3!!!

:)Welcome back into the fold ;)

Found my old g3 sitting in the garage the other day. Never managed to get OsX on it but I believe it is possible. :)

I put panther on a G3 iMac that I solf on eBay to fund my iBook. It works fine, just make sure you put some ram in it. My iMac (Graphite) only had 256!!!!

My iMac (Graphite) only had 256!!!!iirc the iMac had onboard USB which the beige G3 didnt. I think that, as well as something to do with the hdd, was a major stumbling block for trying to install OsX.

It was so long ago :o

I don't know about all that. I installed it just fine and it ran. The guy I sold it to never complained to me about it. He wanted it to test out osX and macs for graphic work. So it must have worked well enough for him.

You can use those old G3's as servers if you want. I hear they do the trick. But here in SA, you might as well get a hosting account or overseas server since the bandwidth and regs will kill you. :(
