Are for people who are searching for answers, not for those who have all the answers or know where to find them... Therefore by definition there is nothing to debate...

yeah, but it seems that the process of communication between those who ask and those who are in the know (or living in ignorant bliss) is via heated debate.. (maybe that's the spice of life)

Does anybody really have all the answers as far as religion is concerned?

I think religious debates are interesting, but even more curious to me is why people seem to have a need for religion in the first place.

Because people are scared. Since no one knows what happens when you die, they look for answers in religious texts so they can be comforted by the fact that they do not disappear into "nothingness". They need the hope security a religion offers them. Well that's my take.

w1z4rd (crypto strong name), that's my take to but I view death as an event as natural as birth with the objective of enjoying the bit in the middle as much as possible.

debating isn't a problem, it's attacking other religions in the debate that causes trouble. If it's done respectfully it's educational and quite interesting..

RELIGION RELIGION RELIGION RELIGION?

My definition of religion is believing in a dead god, in other words idols.

People not worshipping the living god , are worshipping idols.

Worshipping atheism is idolatery, that is the living god's view...

You need to lay off the punch. I think you would be hard-pressed to find someone who worships atheism. It doesn't even make sense to be used like that.

I just have to pipe in on this one,
douwdouw : by your own definition, Christianity is not a religion since you worships idols.

Or if you want to say your God is living, then you by rights have to give that to every other religion as their God is living as well albeit in a higher plane of existance to anything we puny humans can comprehend.

To me, this whole debating religions thing is actually pointless, people will believe what they want, and if it makes them feel like a better person good for them. As long as they don't try force their lifestyle choice on me, I'm happy with their choice.

FAIR ENOUGH i live a lifestyle and if i believe a thing is wrong i say so, a few back i kept my mouth shut. I am a christian... to defend your position... you can't really but i find interesting info... although i get blasted...:)

If you don't mind no wait may you have a happy new year and may the things you wish for in 2007 blossom.

Thanks for the chat.

"There is no Death! What seems so is transition;
This life of mortal breath
is but a suburb of the life elysian,
whose portal we call Death"

"Life is the jailer, death the angel sent to draw the unwilling bolts and set us free."

both quoted from poems written by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow :)

i just find it interesting :)

People has a religion because they are afraid of what comes when we die, and alll have heard of Hell so we think if we are "good" we will not go there.

i myself isnt really religious

Is your logic is that `because there is a debate'... `there is no debate'?

No, it's that there is only one kind of person out there... those who don't have all the answers ;)
Problem is getting them to stand up!
