Have not got my Mac here so can't try installing now.

IIRC .sit is a StuffIt compressed file, for which you will need Stuffit Expander

Ditto... I think Bwana had a post somewhere about alternatives that will uncompress .sit .hqx and a whole bunch of others. Try doing a search on the forum.

You're a new Mac owner right?
Asking what a SIT file is or how to extract it is like a Windows user asking what a zip file is. :D

This is a pretty normal question for a "late" switcher. dmg's and zips have pretty much been the standard for the last 2-3yrs.

Stuffit is one of those sub-zip/arj utilities that are incredibly expensive to purchase. I like Mac's but to fork out nearly a grand for a WinZip altarnative
or a grand for "DiskWarrior" a Norton Disk Doctor Alternative is ridiculous :).
Anyone use DiskWarrior around here?
BTW the Unarchiver often shows EMPTY SIT files. It sucks.

Anyone use DiskWarrior around here?I'd think twice too if I was paying a grand for a $49 piece of software. :)
Never used DiskWarrior - big fan of AppleJack though - and I have good backups :)

The Deluxe version is $79.99 plus mailing cost plus 14% vat etc ;)
