Saw a licence plate last week that read "Jihad.GP". It was in black lettering against a white background. Aren't these licence plates of government officials? Regardless, what if I had a licence plate that said "Christian Crusades.GP" (well, if that could fit)... would Muslims take offence?

Probably. We're now entering the murky world of 'Freedom of Speech' vs 'Inciting Hatred'.

Hows about "Atheist Crusade". That should piss everyone off. :D
Honestly someone who would drive around with something like that on their car is deserving of sympathy more than anything else.
We have more important things to worry about in this country.

heh.. my first reaction to the Jihad.GP numberplate, was to grin.
(Which is pretty much what the owner intended, I'd guess).
You folks should develop a sense of humour, and find important
things to stress over..

I don't see anything wrong with that particular number plate. Like previous posters said it's probably an issue of free speech.

I see Jihaad.WP about once a week in CPT. I happened to meet the owner of the car recently. His name is ... Wait for it ..... drum roll .... 'Jihaad'. So based on that I can't wait to meet the owner of the black SLK I see around town with the plate Minki-WP !!

Someone driving around town with a number plate that reads Jihad.GP, is showing as much sensitivity as someone driving around during the 40`s with luvnazi.GP.
However, if your name is Jihaad, your parents were fked up. I wonder what the other sons name was? Dances-with-crickets?

From that link that rhino-hippo-lesser-spotted-something-or-other mentioned:
07-05-2006 / South Africa
South Africa- Anti- Semitic graffiti on car with Jihad registration in Johannesburg
The vehicle with the registration "Jihad- GP" was reported again by a Jewish community member with the wording "**** the Jews" written into dust on the vehicle's windscreen. The occupants of the vehicle were described as a Muslim family (including children).
