It can lend some credence to an individual or even several individuals who were combined into one having existed, which is of historical interest, but no more.
I'm sure we could prove that Uri Geller exists, but that doesn't mean he could bend spoons.

Uri Geller certainly does bend spoons - there's video evidence of it!
(Of course, he uses his hands to bend them, not his mind...)

On the surface no. But it does prove Christ existed, which many of you don't believe.

why i say
He could have been a inspired man teaching God's word, or he was god's word made flesh...
..and that being one of those two it logically with other 100+ odd messiahs at same time would be hard for anyone just to spot him and out of the blue believe that he is what he is.

I&J, you're a closet non-believer, right? Taking the mickey out of believers by making as if you agree with them and then post evidence to the contrary.
You keep on making statements and then promptly post a link that proves the exact opposite. You posted about how dinosaurs were in the bible and got wiped out by the great flood and then give us link to articles that disprove it, and a global flood in general.
Here, you do it again. It's a great link you posted above, thanks. But it pretty much rip your stated believes apart. It shows there's no evidence of Christ outside the gospels, the Jesus of the NT was a cruel person, Christians were in cahoots with Nazi's etc.
For example, on the site you posted, the conclusion to the question of historical evidence for Jesus reads:
Therefore, to conclude, in the matter of eyewitness and contemporary accounts to Jesus' earthly life, there is a striking absence. The situation is adequately summed up by Professor Fuller, Professor of New Testament, Union Theological Seminary, New York, in his A Critical Introduction to the New Testament:-
"Of the 27 books of the New Testament only the authentic Pauline epistles are, strictly speaking, the testimony of an apostolic witness. And even Paul...was not a witness of the historical Jesus. Since the earliest witnesses wrote nothing...there is not a single book in the New Testament which is the direct work of an eyewitness of the historical Jesus..." (p.197).
On the Nazi issue, your reference state:
'The leaders of the Protestant Church, with only a few exceptions, endorsed in general the establishment of the Nazi regime in Germany... The establishment of the Third Reich represented for Protestant leaders...the triumph of national religious faith. They generally welcomed that victory with joy'.
Prof. T. S. Hamerow, On the Road to the Wolf's Lair (HUP, 1997), pp.151-158.
'Most of the established church leaders quickly demonstrated that they were quite prepared to comply with the Nazi regime in political matters as long as they were accorded some measure of religious freedom... Churches and churchgoers often looked away when confronted with Nazi crimes so long as they were not directly threatened'.
Prof. E. A. Johnson, Nazi Terror (Perseus, 1999), pp.196,250.
'Protestants were more sympathetic than Catholics to Nazism all along...Hitler made a brief radio appeal to Protestants on the eve of the 1933 church elections, and asked them to show their support for Nazi policies. He could not have been disappointed by the pro-Nazi results...
We also have evidence that many ordinary citizens and even religious leaders of Catholic and Protestant faiths did not condemn the Nazi program of 'mercy-killing' in principle...
In some parts, Protestant churchgoers were displeased to see how many converted Jews went to church and demanded that they should not have to take the eucharist next to these Jews, whom they wanted banned from the services'.
Prof. R. Gellately, Backing Hitler (OUP, 2001), pp.14,105,131
So thanks for settling the on-going debate here around Nazism and Christianity. And of course, the lack of evidence for Jesus outside of the gospels.
To maybe help you a bit; There is actually some evidence for Jesus outside the gospels, but it's extremely weak. I suggest you read 'Jesus the Evidence' by Ian Wilson.
I&J, Again, if you scroll down the link you posted, instead of using the Content links, you'll see a treatment of the following authors:
- Josephus
- The Talmud
- Tacitus
- Suetonius
- Thallus
- Pliny the Younger
The conclusion to the above reads:
Summary
In sum, the evidence for the historical evidence for Jesus is non-existent:
1) There are no proven, legitimate references to the existence of Jesus in any contemporary source outside of the New Testament.
2) The New Testament accounts do not provide a real 'biography' for Jesus. The early writings imply only that he was a divine figure and consistently fail to locate Jesus in any chronological setting; they also fail to cite those sayings attributed to him in the (later) Gospels, even when they are wholly applicable.
3) The existence of Jesus is not necessary to explain the origin or growth of Christianity.
So your link completely disproves what you set out to prove. What gives?

Ok,
First of all, my actions here, may seem contradictory however they aren't. Maybe i should've rephrased my second post, but since you beat me to the punch, i'll say this. The references in this video, and the article are the same. This article is not friendly towards evidence, however i'm going to set the record straight with regards to the article, and refute it to prove there is evidence of christ outside the bible.

1) It may seem like that. But there's more than enough proof. I will give it soon.
2) Traces of Christ was found in close promixity to almost every geographical area mentioned where He was.
3) True. But that does not mean christianity has pagan origins. Christianity started out in the days of Cain and Abel.

2) Traces of Christ was found in close promixity to almost every geographical area mentioned where He was.
No traces of Jesus have ever been found. Many have been manufactured by the church to improve its income from pilgrims, however.
3) True. But that does not mean christianity has pagan origins. Christianity started out in the days of Cain and Abel.
Cain and Abel never existed, dimwit.
Paul was in Rome, and in Greece. If Paul exists, the Christ must exist, because Paul wrote about Christ. Evidence will follow.
If Tolkien existed, then hobbits must exist, because Tolkien wrote about hobbits. By your "logic" tribbles, therefore, exist as well.

Religion, definition:
Religion—sometimes used interchangeably with faith or belief system—is commonly defined as belief concerning the supernatural, sacred, or divine, and the moral codes, practices and institutions associated with such belief. In its broadest sense some have defined it as the sum total of answers given to explain humankind's relationship with the universe. In the course of the development of religion, it has taken a huge number of forms in various cultures and individuals. ...

So far I've just heard everything that we've already spoken about and researched. No one ever denied the existence of Jesus. What IS being denied, is that Jesus was a "Messiah" or the son of God.
And as for the "solar eclipse" uh... you who believes in the technology of the ancients, you don't even remotely consider that people would've seen that coming? I'm sorry, all that proves is that there was an eclipse the day he died... It's not exactly "Wow, omg! The sky is falling! The sky is falling!" unless you lived in those times.
And at this site: http://biblicalnewmoon.com/the-year-jesus-died/
It claims:
He died some weeks or months after an eclipse of the moon, and it is that eclipse which has been used by historians since the 17th century to date the whole list of events in Josephus.
So whereas that guy says, "The day" that reference I gave you says a couple of weeks.
I mean, I probably missed your point somewhere along the lines. But I've said it before, what did Jesus do that Evangists these days don't? We've discussed what the power of belief can do. Hell, Ripley's Believe it or Not had some asian dude on that could light a candle with using the power of his mind to focus heat through his hand.
Anything is possible. And belief, willpower - that's all that separates a "man" from a "god?" I should introduce you to some "faith healers" some time, or some people that practice psychodrama. It could be an interesting experience - it happens, yay, get over it, move on.
Did Jesus exist? Yes. Was the the son of "the Creator?" If you want to believe that, go wild.
And as for the Tacitus bit in that clip... You did, of course, notice that he somewhat exaggerated on how many times "Christ" was written in Tacitus' manuscripts, right? When, factually, Tacitus only mentioned a "Christus" once, and that was also discussed.
Like I said, ALL of this has been discussed. It's not interesting anymore... Not at all... Been there, done that, got the post count to prove it.
Edit:
P.S. One of the author of that clip's comments:
Its funny tho...Ive heard opponents of the bible say that the differances in the Gosples point to "contridictions" while at the same time another opponents says that the simularities point to the writers copping each other.
Give me a brake.
