I managed to change my brand new Samsung imei to 0000000000000000 by accident.
I have found a code that will reset it with another imei number but I want to get my own back. Is there any way to do that? Your help will be greatly apreciated

Why dont you just re-enter your old one then? Its usually on the box and often on the phone itself (often under the battery but YMMV).

Errrr apart from the insurance and repairs side, why would you want to change it back?

im blocked on vodacom cos of all the 0's. and i dont want to type the code that gives me a new imei. i cant remember the code i used tho.
*2767*2878# -> Custom EEEPROM Reset ( what i was supposed to do )
*2767*3855# -> Full EEPROM Reset ( what i might have to do )
What handset is it?
I would not recommend playing with the "Full EEprom reset" as this can result in the IMEI becoming the factory default of 15 x 0 and no network will let you on.
There are no codes to allow you to change the IMEI back to its original state. As a minimum you'll need a serial cable and software. As you are not changing the IMEI to anything but the original, you are legally OK to do this. The RICA act states that changing the IMEI is illegal when it is done to bypass network blacklisting.

this would have neva happend if they didnt steel my walkman phone.
i was reading some things online.
put an inaccepted sim cad in the phone wait to phone says wrong card and then do this
*#06# to get imei(write this down)
*2767*3855# full reset
*2767*688imei no of phone# phone will restart and sim card should be accepted
then while phone is on do this
*0141# then phone will be lock to that sim
the 688imei does that reset it back to the normal? because the full reset makes the imei number 447967-89-400044-0 ( doesnt do that with mine )
oh and BTW the code i typed was #*7337# :(
The code: #*7337# could be used used up to about two or three years ago (models like the E700). On some handsets using this codes can damage the EEPROM area (i.e. IMEI and/or SP lock status). Especially with those handsets originally locked to Orange UK.
Any code that says it'll reset your IMEI to 447967-89-400044-0 is a pretty old code circa 2000/1 and probably referred to the R210.
I still don't know what handset you have or if you have a serial cable? Because this will be your only route in fixing the problem.
The reason for the IMEI of 000000000000000 is so that a handset can be sent to any service department as a service replacement. You can set a blank IMEI by code but you can set a valid IMEI without software & cable.

Unidentified IMEIs are automatically blocked by the Networks (or are supposed to be at least :D). You cannot change the IMEI back to the original number by inputting a code, you need either a specialised firmware update or you need to fix a new 'motherboard' in your phone. This is ofcourse a grey area in the laws surrounding cell phone hardware/software tampering. If you do find a 'corner' cell phone repair shop to replace the 'motherboard' make sure the new IMEI is valid, or you will be identified as using a stolen handset. Not that SAPS is interested, but noteworthy nonetheless.
It's quite legal to correct a corrupt IMEI the law (in SA) permits this.
The law in South Africa makes it illegal to change or tamper with an IMEI of a previously blacklisted handset to allow it back onto the network(s).
Most dealers will fix 15 x 0 IMEI's but only to that shown on the IMEI shown on the unit!
You will also be able to get your IMEI from your vodacom4u website, if you're with Vodacom. Otherwise calling your operator and asking for the last IMEI associated with your number, might also work.

Fasman u seem to be a complete mother ****er....do u understand that????i think u have taken hash..go and screw your mom...You are a foul-mouthed dick-head. Get off MyBB - we don't need your kind here.
I tried to advise you on the moral course of action with the stolen phone in your possession. Others point out the legislation.
You reply with vile obscenity.
Good riddance.
