I'm trying to d/l a 100mb torrent at the moment. Running over 8KB/s consistently. Saw 10.1KB/s a few minutes ago. w00t! Projected time is just over 3 hours.

I know it's not the most efficient way to d/l 100mb, but I've got some airtime to burn.

Lol... I downloaded from the IS news server at 387KB/s a few minutes ago :D
Granted it doesn't happen often.!

The pessimist in me tells me your not on a VM connection.

Anybody know how to check the VM airwindow/expiry date?

There's a Virgin Mobile menu somewhere on your phone. On some models it's under "Phone and Office Tools", under "Entertainment" for others. You can check your airtime from there as well as transfer airtime, order by credit card, etc.

Well, after a good start to the night, VM has now gone into stop/start mode. Which (i say with calmness) is irratating beyond god knows what.

Have airtime to burn?! Why dont you send some of that unburnt airtime over to this side? ;)
VM is DEAD (http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?p=654311) here at the moment. :(

Hi Everyone,

Due to previous call Congestion issues, upgrades in effect already should make this weekend a much better one for Virgin customers. Please ensure that your set your phone to roam on Virgin or Cell C depending on how it appears on your phone, any other config will result in performance issues.

Please would you let me know what the GPRS experience is like given the comments above.

Regards,

Gerald.

Had people phone me to ask what is going on... why do I get the feeling that this is not going to be sorted out until next week

I would like to know what is going on, something with a bit of detail, no just up-grading or working on it

..Boodles waits for the evening time when VM internet goes on strike...

There have been a few of us that have been regularly complaining lately, becuase internet not working.

Whilst my 'case' is being looked into, what about the others from here that also have same probs as me?

VM reps, dragonlogos needs help, as do a few others.

You guys (vm staff) give us official 'downtime', times, but we are experiencing no interent on a daily basis lately - whats with that?

We have plenty of VM reps here, which is really good, but we need them to be a bit more proactive/informative.

VM interent, has been good today.

My VM GPRS is dead.
MTN to the rescue.

VM are aware of the problems - which probably explains why they are very quiet on the forum.

I spoke to one of the VM reps in Musica recently and he said for him it has been perfect. Never seen any problems and doesn't know what the fuss is all about. Fascinating .... that's all I can say.

Well GPRS is still out - Cellc network is permanently busy - Vodacom taking strain - MTN working

Yeah, lots of downtime recently, but it seems to have worked out OK.

Now if we could only shoot a few Cell-C weekend callers...

Wow, your tower must really like you. Or is there a trick? 10KB/s is cool, but 22 would be better.

Still nothing, can they not pay people to work on the weekends, having a service down for three days is a bit much

This ongoing daily problem needs to be reported to icasa - its surely against virgins license agreement.

Good idea, though I don't know if there is any stipulation about service quality at all. They also seem to deny most problems or just refuse to report them (mostly) so we would need to rely on some evidence.

Perhaps we ought to revive the letter campaign to Richard Branson (Screw it let's do it :D).

Unlikely.

Had a bit of downtime this morning too.

ETA: The Gamco speed test blows. Just did a test and got 96KB/s (770kpbs). Yeah right.

The flying Virgin crashed into the sea here about 30 minutes ago:( Connects but only getting traffic on way - up:sick:

Maybe part of the problem is the "You can talk for free on weekends" people hogging the network:rolleyes:

VM is up again with pretty decent speeds. The beginning of a new week brings some respite from the "talk-for-free-on-weekends" network hogs:D
