Good day,
I've got to build a box. Needs to be quite strong. Think I'll use pine?
Where's the best place in Cape Town (Southern Suburbs and surrounds) to get the cheapest pine?
Thanks :D

By Spotty Dog in Retreat. Penny Pinchers I think. And pine will be more than chipboard or Marine ply.
Eish.. I read the thread topic as "Cheapest place to buy weed.."
had to read it again for it to make sense :D

How much weight would plywood (cheapest) be able to support at the top?
Viewed from the top, the pressure of weight would be in the middle (perhaps an area of about 20x20cm). Top piece of wood dimensions about 80x50cm.
Any idea? :o
Plywood's damn strong, especially marine ply. Chipboard wouldn't do the job.

Any idea? :oThe have all different thickness of plywood. and you could always run a support down the centre. The better qn might be how much weight are you looking to support?

Yeah, Pine would be very weak.
I normally go with around 20mm for most things I build. From sub boxes to shelving etc.
I think it's 18mm or 22mm.

What about chip board? For a few kgs? Sure - but you would want to just tack a support down the middle.

Will try Penny Pinchers and Builders Warehouse.
They're both so close to each other (Tokai/Retreat) - a perfect example of competition - damn Telkom

Gone are those days :D
Nowadays there would be no need for such a box.
Something you're trying to tell us? ;)

Yeah, I've had some exposure to High Pressure Sodium lamp, Cool tubes, Co2 supplementation and Super Thich and Sticky Buds, all non detectible by the human eye coz it's hidden in a box that looks like a wardobe.....
OE OE Dont forget the Carbon scrubber to get rid of that smell :D

open your browser, type in the address bar www.google.com, then type in SOG or Sea Of Green
Check the Phone Book for Davidson's Boards in Ottery

There is one in Ottery as well.
Used them once. They specialise in all sorts of chip board. Probably your best bet as I think the Hardware Stores might be more inclined towards wood.
