I am in Mumbai, India. I have a Broad Band Connection from the Telephone Company, through DLink 502T Router. Lately, it takes over 2 minutes to get the internet connection. The Government owned telephone Company says my DLink 502T (originally recommended by them and installed a year ago) is faulty. DLink says "unlikely, will check out my router, anyway." I also get the following readings from the Router:
Item Downstream Upstream Unit

SNR Margin 16 12 dB

Line Attenuation 10 31 dB

Data Rate 2013 200 kbps

Would anyone like to comment? Is the high Upstream attenuation the problem? I know precious little about these things. Can anyone guide me?

I don`t think we can blame Telkom for this one.
So I`d go with the high Upstream attenuation...

You can ask questions such as these in the subdivisions such as General Broadband Discussions and you'd have a much better chance of getting good answers.
