HI,

When I installed Windows XP I had to load drivers to enable XP to use my RAID setup during instalation. Is this still a requirement with VISTA?

Thks

No. No more loading drivers onto a stiffy (spit!). No more pressing F6 (or was it F8?) and selecting the drivers.

Yes, you may start crying with joy. :)

Just get the RAID sorted in your BIOS put in your Vista disc and it'll pick up the drive automatically. Well, at least it did so for me. Might depend on you mobo as well.

Where can I download them from? Can't remember. I run a Nvidia Stripe.

Thanks for all the help. I am only getting my Vista on Monday. From what you have said I should not need to load the drivers as I am using Nvidia Raid - Stripe.

That was probably amongst the best features in Vista :D

Also had to load the RAID drivers for an Asus A8N mobo, but it was painless.

So I installed Vista Home Premium x64 yesterday on my PC. No problems with my Raid setup at all.

I do, however, have one or two problems:

1) I installed 4 x 1gig dims - Vista only picks up 3gig?? I have a ASUS Model A8N32-SLI-Deluxe mother board. Is there a setting that I should change?
2) I have a standalone SATA HD - Vista does not pick this up.

Any help/ suggestions welcomed

well how sure are you that it is windows vista home premium 64 bit firstly

secondly asus boards do have a problem when trying to install 4 gig memory

update the bios if this does not work get the board replaced

have u tested each stick of ram insuring each one is work

Looks like it's a BIOS issue. Need to upgrade/ flash the BIOS. Just one question - How do I do it as there is no windows flash tool for vista?

(And I dont own a Stiffy drive to do a dos flash)

ok this may be a longer way around but load up xp

update bios

asus suck big time, i cannot believe there is no tool for vista to update bios

another reason why im starting to really dislike them

ok thought this could not be true

On your memory size issue, see if you board has the ability to enable or disable Memory Remapping. Enabling that should give you access to the additional memory address space over 3 GB on 64-bit Windows operating systems or on 32-Bit Server 2003 Enterprise editions. I have no issues with more than 3 GB of RAM on two ASUS boards I have provided that is enabled.

Thanks! Sorted!
