I just upgraded from a P4 to an E6750, man Intel rocks :) Spend that extra 200 bucks and get the E6750

IMO if you want the ultimate speed for those kind of apps then rather spend a little more and get the quad. And Intel remains king ...

It's not really remaining king seeing as it only became king with the Core 2 series. People like Intel too much :( They're the big nasty corporation here, it's like liking MS to me. Understand now?
You can still buy the Intel, just don't say anything nice about them. :)

Btw, if you are going for the AMD there were price drops yesterday, so wait a while and the 6000+ might make more sense. It's already a good competitor for the E6550, a bit more expensive too atm.

Dude, you need to accept that AMD is getting their arses whipped with the Intel chips, so until AMD comes out with something faster, Intel WILL be king ;)

Lol to some of your posts ... I feel for you EHV :P ... thanks for the replies guys ... its not for me, its for a client .. and that is the budget he gave me ... but he settled for the AMD, cause the boards are cheaper with onboard graphics :P

Get the Intel unless you can affords the 6400+ black edition, in which case the Intel will still be faster :P

I had a similar choice and jumped over to the intel camp from a previous AthlonXP 2200+
Got the e6550 stock @2.33Ghz now @ 3.0Ghz on stock cooling :D
Using a Gigabyte P35 DS3P mobo, XFX 8800GTS 320MB stock and 2gigs DDR2 800
