Debranding Nokia phones using NSS -Part 1 (Installation)

Posted 16-03-2009 at 11:09 PM by calvincoetzee
Some distributors such as Vodafone brand their mobiles by modifying the manufacturers firmware to provide a custom set of features or advertising out of the box.
Vodacom which uses Vodafone firmware for a variety of their devices is an example of such customisations. On a Vodafone live branded phone one will notice various icons, bookmarks or even features missing from the device, an example would be the “Vodafone live!” Bookmarks, certain menu customisations or start up screens promoting “vlive!” and in the worst case features such as built in VOIP removed.

I will show you how to de-brand your Nokia device using the application “Nemesis Service Suite” or otherwise NSS.
The advantages to doing this is that you will experience the phone just as the manufacturer intended, as well as obtaining the latest firmware as soon as it is released without it being modified and released with custom firmware months later.
This guide was done using a Nokia N85 and Windows Vista 32bit.

Step 1: Download and install Nemesis Service Suite
