  • South Africa's mines will be nationalised: ANCYL

South Africa's mines will be nationalised, ANC Youth League deputy president Ronald Lamola said on Monday.

"Comrades, we have won the debate on nationalisation," he told the league's Dr Mxolisi Majombozi branch at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg.

"Even the African National Congress, if you can read their statement, they say we are at the point where we must look in terms of which minerals to nationalise."

Lamola was reporting back on the league's policy conference held in June, the role of the youth league, and reflecting on former president Nelson Mandela's contribution to the struggle.

"We have stated with this opportunity that has been given to us that we must now identify strategic minerals to be nationalised," he told the cheering crowd.

rpm, with the greatest respect. Do you not believe you are empowering the ANCYL by constantly publicising every statement they make?

I know myBB tries to remain impartial, but the ANCYL is not a political party and they have their own website to distribute announcements.

In this case, there is nothing factual to report here either, it's mere sensationalism and I don't believe it should be supported by any news outlet.

It isn't their policy(anc) though. ANCYL are a bunch of tools. People think they speak for the ANC but i highly doubt it.

did they miss out on this

According to MoneyWeb, Gwede Mantashe, the ANC's secretary general, said that party leaders have agreed that nationalisation of mines isn't a viable option. Wholesale nationalisation is "off the table," Mantashe told reporters, following a meeting of the party's leadership, adding that seizing mines would be "costly and unsustainable."

They are a bunch of idiots who make a noise but the ANC doesn't seem to be party to their noise.

Mess with the government's mining and you won't get far. Malema is a prime example of what happens when you go up against the ANC and perhaps the ANCYL should take some lessons from that saga but they are very stupid so i doubt they will.
