A few hours ago I picked up the latest y'ello deals brochure from MTN valid 17th May - 2nd June.

Must say, I'm fairly pleasantly surprised that the Lumia 520 is R1,899 on prepaid.
This is the first place I've seen it on prepaid, so thought I'd mention it.

If you consider that Game (and others) are selling what is now an old Lumia 610 for about R1,600 , still, this pretty good value.

I thought they would be ripping us off on a 520 for about R3k.
Maybe it's now worth a consideration, if only to try out the WP8 platform ?

One thing putting me off a bit, apart from the fact that I don't need a new smartphone at the moment, is that it's been noted that the screen colours are distinctly faded (or similar terminology) compared to the 720.
You can notice the difference on You Tube videos, when they're compared side-by-side.

Despite a spec sheet that’s broadly similar to the Lumia 920 – and its closely related sibling, the Lumia 928 for Verizon – Nokia has managed to trim the fat in the Lumia 925, bringing its weight down to a much more reasonable level. It’s thin too, thin enough to strut its stuff down any catwalk, with a profile that’s considerably sleeker than its predecessors. With a profile that's just 8.5mm thick, the 925 weighs just 139g - far less than the 920 and 820, but still more than devices such as the iPhone 5 (112g). Neowin
Like Samsung (okay, so they are the boss - for now), Nokia is also going to be releasing this bigger Lumia to compete with Samsung's Galaxy Grand (a.k.a poor man's GS3/4).

The Max is said to be marketed as a Lumia 6xx variant indicating a lower middle market focus.

May 14 and 15 is going to be very interesting.

I have the Windows Phone application (App Preview 3) installed on my Windows 7 Home Premium (with SP1) laptop.

However, I get prompted to install Windows Phone whenever I connect my Lumia 920, the program won't open by itself. I then have to manually open the program.

The worst part is that whenever I disconnect the L920, I get the blue screen of death and the computer shuts down!

I've uninstalled and reinstalled WP, but it still happens.

In addition, Bluetooth from computer to L920 also gives problems. When it does connect, I can transfer at max two files before I have to reboot the computer! (I'm using a one year old Dell XPS i7 laptop).

Any suggestions?

Is there something on my side that should've been done or is the problem only on my service provider's side?

Hi guys

Also been getting false phone is up to date statuses, I found this nifty method of updating my Lumia needs a bit of techie know how but it worked like a charm. Basically create the bat file in your C:/Users/yourpcname folder, when you run CMD it opens to this folder anyway so all you have to do is execute the file. Instructions below.

1) Connect your phone and let Zune run, then go to Phone>Settings>Update
2) Check the timing, try it click any option after clicking update
3) Mine takes 5 secs before Zune shows "your phone is up to date"
4) Once you get the timing right, deduct 1 sec (EX: 5 secs-1 sec = 4 secs[this should be your trick time])
5) Now, open command prompt (search "cmd")
6) Go to "my computer" then "C:" then "users" then "yourpcname folder"
7) Open notepad, then type this exactly what you see here
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
8) Save the file as "newip.bat", save it in C:/Users/yourpcname folder
9) Go to command prompt, make sure you are on the right directory
it should show C:/>users/"yourpcname": *** your pc name is the name of the folder you open in C:/users/**
10) Type newip.bat in command prompt but dont hit enter yet
11) Once you got the timing right, lets say about 5 secs Zune will say your software is up to date, when you are in the 4secs trick time, hit enter after typing newip.bat in command prompt.
12) If you did it right, it will show you "an update is available", there are might be 3 update, so you have to do this trick 3 times.
13) Enjoy you windows phone 7.8!!

Went through about 4 updates till I got the final update worked much better than the disconnect reconnect method. It didn't work so well when I had a network cable plugged in and wireless on, it kept checking wireless and LAN when I ran the bat file and timed out the update, so just use wireless.

I have been checking almost every day for the official update for my Lumia 710. I am on Vodacom and check daily for my update yet nothing.

I have tried the unplug force update and that just gives me an error or tells me the phone is up to date.

Does anyone know when the update will be available for every one, without hanky panky.

This really annoys me and might just be the straw that broke this windows phone lovers back.
