Hi guys

My PC is connected to the wifi network in my house via a network adapter. I mainly use Chrome where this issue starts. Sometimes while watching Youtube videos, it will stop buffering completely and then when I try to open any other website it just get stuck on "Waiting for ......" This issue then happens on all browsers afterwards. The only way to solve it is to restart the PC, and to do it 5-10 times in a 4 hour period is quite annoying.

Could use some suggestions as to why this is happening.

Thanks in advance!

Hi guys,

Just wanting to know if anyone else is having problems with playing DotA 2 or other Steam games?

I am on Amobia 4mb uncapped, just signed up. I have amazing signal as I can actually visibly see the tower I connect to.

The problem is that I am unable to play DotA 2. I have no lag in the game, but in a 16min game I am dc'd 5 times and need to wait about a minute or so before I'm able to reconnect. People are unable to hear me at all if I use the voice chat as they say it breaks up incredibly badly. If I type it takes about 30sec before the text appears on the screen. My ping on local servers is about 230ms with a packet loss of 49%.

Amobia has been attending to the problem since Tuesday, but I'm starting to doubt that they are actually doing anything. Surely it's as simple as listing the Steam/Dota 2 ports as ACL safe? I'm guessing they use Squid to throttle me to hell?

Anyway, I'm just wanting to know if anyone else is having the same problems and if they were able to fix it?

Amobia did tell me I should try play a different game because a few months ago they had another client who also had problems with DotA and they were unable to fix it. Unfortunately my friends are unwilling to play anything other than DotA. Also, I'm quite sure no other ISP tells their customers, "Maybe you should play a different game?".

Telkom offer a 4mb uncapped with a telephone line for an extra R50 a month, so it really is seeming rather appealing right now. If I could get the installation cost I paid back, I would jump ship instantly.

Hi there

I have a Siemans Giga762SX ADSL router at home. The Wifi works great when I use my laptop, but when I use my cellphone (or any other cellphone) I run into connection problems.

Here is what happens....I can connect to wifi just fine, and I can use it, but after a few seconds I cannot load any more web pages on my phone. The browser just hangs. The wifi is still connected with an excellent signal strength, but it acts like I have been disconnected.

I find that if I am fast enough to start downloading something on my phone (like a movie clip, documents, jpegs etc), then I will manage to stay connected and won't have a problem

Has anyone had this problem, or maybe knows what I can do to fix it. It is not just my cell, but all others that have been tried. Computers and laptops don't have a problem.

Thanks

Hi and apologies if in wrong thread/forum....but as you will see my mind is clouded. Am stumped! I assisted a friend to setup a wi-fi network for his home. I set the router to ip address to: 192.168.1.100 and his TP-Link as (static) address to 192.168.1.101 - extender mode. Router is Huawei B683 & Tp-link is WA730RE. PC's set to acquire ip addresses from router.
The router is set to DNS enable. Now at my home it all works fine, am able to connect 2 x son's pc's (win7) & linux laptop perfectly to the internet, download, browse & mail, no problems at all. He takes it to his complex & switches on - He can see the SSID of router & then it disappears, unable to connect. He brings it back, I set router to address 192.168.1.200 & tp-link at 192.168.1.201 and it works fine. He takes it to his place and same result. He sees it first time then it disappears! He can see about 4 other SSID's (neighbours) however as it is in a complex. I think it could be some interference coming from them, but am not sure. I have not had this situation before. Any pointers please as my mind is completely befogged as what next to try?
