Mot true. If you recharge on Monday, it will expire on Sunday (7 days). And calls are much cheaper, small bundles (<500MB) more affordable.

No. It means that modem can be stuck to 2100MHz 3G (HSDPA or similiar) picking up some distant tower and stop searching for the 3G signal in 900MHz...

Changing to 2G and back to 3G helps (in the case modem is stuck to 2100MHz).

When you connect S7 to PC using USB cable, do you see Huawei modem device in device manager? If yes, then the easiest way is to use MDMA beta....

I wouldn't be so sure. On Huawei and ZTE modems frequency setting is independent to 3G/2G settings and automatic/manual network selection.
