Default Buying a new discontinued car!

Anyone know the pros and cons of buying a brand new car thats just been discontinued?

The Polo TDi Sportline was discontinued by VW. WHats the risks in buying one?

Resale value would be a worry.

Spare parts might be a problem too - or if you can get them they will be expensive

I was thinking that, but the car hasnt been replaced so theres no new TDI 96kw, its the last of them wont it keep its value as a 2008 model?

Good point, I would run it by some car dealers to get their thoughts on it though.

I'd only buy it if it comes with an extensive maintenance plan and heavily discounted price, together with a guaranteed buyback/trade-in agreement.

I just wouldn't buy a Polo 1.9 TDi, period. Far too many reported turbo failures on this model. It's kinda like the 2000/01 320d.

Its the same car they had for 3 years so it should be safe. Longer if you count the old spec Polo.

Ill see what I can find out I think its sort of an iconic car so it could hold its value, especially being the last of them.

Motor Manufacturers are obliged by law to support the car with spares for 10 years (as that is deemed the life of a car)

Dont know if they ACTUALLY do in SA tho'

Thats correct, although im not worried about it that much, Its still a Polo and the Polo should be around for another year or so.
My understanding is that its just a normal 1.9TDi just modified, also the Seat 1.9Tdi is still in production and is also 96kw, so as for engine parts etc there will be enough.

Its just the resale value, I know all cars depreciate and all that nonsense.
I also think its a good buy, and maybe if im lucky dealers would want to get rid of their stock so I might get it cheaper than the last batch that went out, I guess im just looking for someone to yes you right go for it!!!
