Default Baur 325 BMW 1981 Model price?

I am not very clued up on BMWs, but fell in love with a 1981 325 Baur this weekend. It is in great shape and is original right down to the floor mats. I have never seen one before and am having difficulty finding prices online. He is asking over 20K (rand) for it. Is this a reasonable price?

Don't know too much about BM's either - but it seems a lot for a car that is almost 30 years old.

It's a beauty. The biggest problem I think I will have with it, is that it has been here in CT for years and probably has serious rust issues. The engine is in perfect condition.

Two door. Metallic goldish colour. Soft back and hard top that fits into a holder in the boot. It has Baur on the pillar yeah.

Well its very rare for one. Youll have to learn your Bavarian as all the fanatics will crowd your car, especially if its in good condition...

Service and parts are available all over the country, theres a huge box bm fanclub in the country, but thats the only problem... im not sure about CT but here in JHB they WILL hijack you and burn the crap out of the car on a Thursday night at Industria.....

It's in good condition. Just need to inspect the rust thoroughly and get a quote to repair any rust damage. Great to hear parts are readily available. Do you have any links?

Shouldn't be too bad to get the rust repaired... but if things like the doors are rusted. just replace them, its cheaper.

Alot of the body panels are cheaper to just replace entirely then get repaired as there are so many box bmws out there...

I will say I am stupidly jealous... I had a box bmw 318ms blueprinted blahblahblah... and I sold it.. worst fscking thing I ever did.... I regret selling it.

I will take snap shots when I see it again this weekend. Tnx for the advice TB. I will look into these aspects as he is not in a huge hurry to sell and will keep it for me.

It's the normal box shape cabriolet. Baur is just the company that made cabriolet's for BMW prior to BMW making them themselves.

that cant be a 1981...that model you posted the picture of started in late 83/mid 84 if I recall correctly.
the picture you posted is of an E30 shape, whereas the 1981 etc wouldve been the E21 shape.

E21 much more collectible. but wasnt offered as a 325, only as a 323 max.

so, somewhere, someone has their wires crossed

e21 bauer cabriolets were as follows:
"A total of 4,595 vehicles were manufactured before production ended in 1981."

You're quite right, their maximum capacity was 2300cc. I would think that this is the correct one.

And if we take a look at a few overseas sales, such as this one going for £3500, then I would say that R20k is a bargain if indeed it is an original '81 model.
