SA Load Shedding Map

Let's get busy and record the load shedding around the country. It would be very interesting to see where load shedding is happening each day and at what time it happened. We can than start to see if there are any patterns to the madness.

I have created a simple Google Map that is open for all users to collaborate on. Simply add a point where you can confirm load shedding has happened. Inside the detail screen please document a short description of what happened.

Example:

Date: 29/1/08
Suburb: Wynberg
Power off: 10:00
Power on: 12:30

I can't report on any load shedding in my area, so the first person to report gets to select the icon for each point. Please select something small so the map does not get too cluttered.

Ideas, suggestions, etc? I think this could be very informative for all South Africans to see spatially.

You'll never get a pattern as it all depends on the amount of "load" at that "specific" time...Load-shedding depends on the then current "load"...

Yeah the pattern will not be very uniform, but it would be nice to see exactly what areas have been shed during the day. Maybe we can see that Sandton gets shed more than Pretoria, or vice versa.

Just remember not all load shedding is done by Eskom. In all the big metropoles, the local electricity supplier eg City Power does the shedding. They get an amount from Eskom, but the areas they shed is up to them.

To escape load shedding in these areas, buy a house near a councilor.

True, I was just thinking we could map out the areas that have had power outages... City or Escom enduced.
