Thread: Your Monthly Home Electricity Usage

  1. #1

Question Your Monthly Home Electricity Usage

I looked at my municipal bill last night and I was charged for 1880 kWh ( estimate ) last month. I'd be interested to know what other people's usage is.

We are 2 adults and 2 teenagers and have - stove, 2 x geysers, washer, dryer, pool pump, 5 x computers, 3 x TVs, microwave, lights, etc.
She wrote me a letter as we passed through Rockford - She said she won’t forget.

Ours is roughly the same amount.
Same appliances, but one less geyser. And then I have my home office.

Around 300 - 1 adult, stove, geyser, washer, laptop, tv, microwave, lights (not CFLs). Oh, and couple of digital clocks, and an electric garage door, and of course a fridge/freezer but it's a smallish one.

Wow! Looks like I'll have to dump the teenagers at the SPCA!

    19H20 - 02 Jan 2008 = 26551
    22H00 - 31 Jan 2008 = 27307

    Total = 756 kWh

    4 bedroom house, pool, 1 300L geyser.
I take my own metre readings and never ever let Ekhoerhoelenie make averages that don't match.
*sigh* - been here since 07-08-2003 ... can it really get worse

Between 650 and 750 kWh (never exceeded 900 even when we still had the pool)

3 bedroom, 2 adults, 200l geyser, all lights CFL
Tumbledrier and dishwasher not connected, so I have to wash the dishes myself.

    922kwh

3 Adults, 2 x kids (actually 1 as the other is 1.8m and eats everything that isn't metallic!).

Standard household appliances,1x geyser (mounted externally) most lights are now those energy saver things. No tumbledryer (broke recently) and no dishwasher.

Used to use almost 2k kwh at one stage but halved the usage by turning off outside lights, breaking the tumbledryer and just using keeping the lights off.

250KW in the last 8 days. I have being saving like mad.
Ran the pool 5 out of the 8 days, boiled kettle for 2 cups max, turned oven off 15 mins before cooking was complete, hibernated PCs over night, turned off all lights when not in use and so on.

That is 1000KW a month (bit of room for error).

There is just NO way I can save more. None.

BTW - We normally use 220KW in a 7 day period.
