Thread: Best way to connect laptop.

Default Best way to connect laptop.

Hi Guys, my mate is getting a laptop and needs to connect to the internet mostly for online banking and similar work related stuff. He is building low cost housing so reception is going to probably be bad out there in the bundus. He was talking about using his Nokia (on a procall 500 contract) and pairing it with bluetooth to the laptop to connect. Now I know you can also get a card that plugs into the laptop instead to connect direct. Which would be the better option and would there be additional costs? Also is there any real difference between the 2 methods besides convenience?
    Thanks

The phone setup will work, but then he won't be able to use the phone while connected to 3G/HSDPA. I would suggest getting a data card (usb) with data sim and data bundles on his procall ... wait a minute, procall is MTN isn't it?

A separate modem is not essential, but LandyMan's advice is sound, i.e. a separate modem for the notebook would be preferable, but perhaps try the Nokia connection from the notebook first as a proof of concept.
