    Default Best prices on running shoes in Cape Town and some cost-effective toning questions

    I want to get fit and into shape. Currently I am 1.78m and 98kg. Broad shoulders. The lightest I have been (at this height) is 85kg.

    I'd like to know where the best places in Cape Town are for the best prices on running shoes? Any advice/information on brands and models and cost? I will mainly be running on fields, in the forest, mountain and nature in general.

    I also want to tone/define my arms a bit. What would be the best way, some dumbbells? Any suggestions? Is it advisable to use dumbbells when running?

    Ball & chain are the best. Because if you are attacked you will have a pretty lethal defensive weapon.

    Thanks for the info. Unfortunately I cannot spend more than around R400 - R500 on the shoes.

    Try New Balance crosstrainers if you running in forests, New Balance factory shop in Diepriver behind te old BMD building.

    Also go walk around access park in Kenilworth I all my shoes there.

    I've been eyeing out New Balance. Seem well-priced.

    I suggest that you go to footlocker.com. I have bought shoes from there, paid postage and customs and the sneaks were still cheaper than buying them here. They also have quite a nice sale section where you can get shoes even cheaper.

    As for toning your arms, if you wanna do htis while you run, I would suggest not running iwth dumbells... you can get some arm weights if you want. Little bangles that weigh around 500/600 grams... they fit around your wrist comfortably. Also to tone your arms do normal arm exercises, just do between 12 and 15 reps per set.

    Dumbell curls, preacher curls, cable curls, etc for biceps, tricep pressdowns, dips, skull cruskers etc for triceps and also do some stuff for your forearms!! just make sure there are lots of reps n each set

    Going to have a look at that site.

    Will check Sportsmans for these wrist weights. If they're not too expensive I'll get those and some dumbbells, for when I'm not running/jogging.

    P.S. How much is/was delivery for the shoes?
