Thread: SPAM in the gaming section - means of getting it dealt with

Arrow SPAM in the gaming section - means of getting it dealt with

Should you encounter spam in the gaming section please do use the REPORT BAD POST function. It is the triangular warning button on the top right of a post.

To make it easy for me to pick it up in the clutter of RBPs from the rest of the forum, you could use the word "gaming" in the text of your RBP comment. My filter will pick it up and make it extra easy for me to nail the suckers on your behalf.

Just another way to make it easier for us to kill spam. This is not necessary as I will do my utmost not to miss any such reports in future.

I have missed some in the past. My apologies.

Should you still see a spam post persist please report it to me via PM or email antowan@myadsl.co.za

    Thanks so much!

Something that needs to be taken into account is the issue of doubble posting. I'm a mod on another forum, and posting twice under the same topic, when you have the option to EDIT your previous post just causes clutter.
Doubble posting is, in a way, spam. Also, it's used to furthur post-counts and 'level up' (who gets a kick out of that, anyway?!)

Agreed...double-posting is really annoying. It's unnecessary. If there aren't any replies after your post there's no excuse really.

Sometimes double-posting happens, I've done it a few times, but it's not my fault. I click "post reply" and it takes long then 2 posts with the exact same info appear... I know I only clicked it once... so maybe this sorta thing happens to other people as well

Antowan, can't you ban these mygaming posts, if we wanted news from there we'd go there

I think to be fair - if Tinman limits it to posting a link to the mygaming's weekly round up would be all right for those who are keen as well as those who couldn't care less.

I don't check the gaming section anymore, though once in a while I forget why and enter to find Tinman / Mygaming spam in every other post trying to get me to go there. Though it does seem to have calmed down a little since I started avoiding the section.

    These piss me off!!!

The only real reason why it pisses me off is because the news is always so delayed.
He posts something I saw 2 days ago.

Why not get him to give a weekly summary post, or a sub-forum, or something. I also get aggravated when there are like 4 in a row with nothing useful.

Tinman is the admin for MyG and MyG is a child forum for MyBB, so I am fairly sure he is allowed to post it here.

I agree with the news always being old though.

Please move the mygamming news post to a subthread or make it a weekly summary.
People hardly comments on it and I'm sure those who really wanna follow mygamming will do so on the official site.
Seriously its causing that I visit this thread (and thus the forum) less often since it is so hard to find the conversations between all the "spam"
