Thread: Polo Issue

  1. #1

    Default Polo Issue

recently purchased a second hand polo playa 1.6 2002 model..

when its cold, sometimes even when its warm, if i accelerate quite hard in 2nd/3rd/4th gears, it feels like the clutch suddenly goes in and the revs climb quickly with no power to drivetrain. usually gets to about 5.5k revs then drops again as it takes.
This is not normal, any ideas?

Could it be the clutch or clutch cable?

Had the same problem with my old car, your clutch plates are forked!

The reason being that once you try and engage it, there's very little friction, resulting in the revs increasing before it finally manages to engage.

Can't remember the exact amount as it was a while back, but if I recall it was around ±R1500

And my car had a freeflow exhaust, so people would turn and stare and wonder wtf is up with this guy revving so high at 40km/h

Thats why its called the stealership. The agents always charge you a fortune and with clutches I think some OEM clutchs for some makes are made by one of the brands you can buy at midas, I think its LUK.

    Shop around some more.

    Buy the clutch from Goldwagen

Find a good mechanic in you area to fit it.

    Best way to go.

You could ask for advice in http://www.vwclub.co.za/vwforum/view...5745145b46d73a

Forum for VW's, they should point you in the right direction.

    Good Luck

Got it sorted thanks, took to ferobrake - going like a boeing now

Didnt actually realise the clutch had such an effect on your drive and the way your car accelerates.
