Neotel’s WiMax and Fibre plans

I bet a small troupe of three-toed sloths could roll out consumer services faster than Nevertel.

Sharma said that WiMax based broadband products may be available before the end of 2008 and that this technology will be employed to provide a user experience to customers who may need something other than the company’s CDMA offerings.

Two promises in one paragraph. 2008 and better than CDMA (because your CDMA offer sucks!). Better stick to those promises Neotel...

Most of us here will have to wait for these services, the CDMA offering obviously isn't going to match ADSL, even if it does compete on price. :(

Another year then I guess.

The year is 2016, and an announcement from NeoTel about their fixed line offering is imminent.

I am quite keen to find out what NeoTel will offer once the LLU thing has been sorted. I guess atm they are limited to what they can do / offer, but all the more reason they give us something better in the way of price for what they can offer. Lets face it, the CDMA offering they are trialing / offering does not really make the grade as far as "affordable broadband" goes, well not in my view anyway.

So yes, back to playing the waiting game I guess...

I know it is futile, but when "Fibre to the Premises" is mentioned in a South African Bandwidth context, I start drooling.

Even though I know it will never happen :(

I guess 10 Gigabytes, hell I do 10 Gigabits between our office blocks!

D

i'm sure it is 10Gigabits,
having a 10G link between 2 offices is very different to a 10G Carrier Grade Network/NGN backbone ;)

I still remember all the 100 days promises. Don't want to put myself through such torture again...
