I still would like to know why MTN customers can't cancel VM on our own- it seems very dumb!

Default problems with MTN voicemail cancellations when travelling overseas

This has been a big frustration for me since moving to MTN from Vodacom. With Vodacom it was as simple as dialling ##002# and ALL voicemails were cancelled. Easy and quick to do just before flying out of SA. With MTN the above code does NOT work. Also manually cancelling all diverts (busy, unreached, not avaiable etc. etc.) on my phone does NOT work.

Every time I go overseas I have to sit in that aweful 808 queue to have my voicemail service completely removed. When I get back from overseas I have to do it all over again And then of course, all your greetings/settings are lost so you have to set that up again.

And it's not just me, my 2 other colleagues on MTN in my office have the same problem when they travel. Last time my one colleague phoned 808 at the gate of OR Tambo to have his voicemail removed but somehow the operator stuffed up. So my colleague had to cough up for tromboning when he got back.

Snakepit, there is but first I will need to cancel a default parameter on the Msisdn. Thereafter they can manage it themselves without calling the contact centers...

Hi there. I know this is a very old thread. But wondering if you can still resolve this issue. Having this problem on both my MTN Lines.
