Has anyone ever come across the things in act 2 which are obviously in reference to the LOST tv series? The black tornado thing that randomly pops up, the pages (all numbered with the winning lotto numbers) the shipwreak, the names of the people in the lost pages etc. I did a bit of a google but cant determine if it was just adding flavour or if there is some secret level? I'm hoping that this is something similar to what the cow lvl was in d2 as it was much harder for the fans to discover than whimsyshire which was basically handed out on a plate after killing Azual or w/e.

On the D3 forums search for "Black Rock Ledger - Finding a Use" and you'll find loads more stuff. Some is really interesting (like how the weather vanes in Tristam point to where the cow level is), and some is epic lols

From what to what did you switch? I remember when I just bought D3 my account got randomly blocked as well, even though I logged onto WoW 5 minutes before installing D3. I only had to enter my security question though

I switched from Axxess to Mweb for a brief time. I think the request for ID might be unrelated to the lock though since it's in a response to a support ticket I had with regards to the SMS protect service.

Apparently the Black Rock Ledger is just a pop culture insert by Blizz, apparently it has no use, like some chest in wow which cannot be opened (no idea what the hell that is, never played wow). Others say its merely a thread starter, and one day Blizz will do x platform content.

What do you guys think of this whole lame ass gear swapping blog from Blizzard?

I personally think its absolute horse shyte.

Some whiny kid complains someone else is getting better gear than him because someone swaps out to MF gear before an elite or boss kill. I personally think its down right difficult to swap gear in some instances and if someone can do it, then so be it.

I personally swap out my gear on about 95% of elite packs. There are some combinations which makes it impossible to swap out gear and invulnerable minions is one of them since I am melee.

What do you guys think? If anything a quick gear swap hotkey should be added. Not some retarded option as specified by them which is:

Option 1: Set a Magic Find Cap
Option 2: Slowly Adjust Magic Find Over Time
Option 3: Use your average MF% or your lowest MF% of the last 5 minutes
Option 4: Zero-Out Your MF% for 3 Minutes After Swapping Gear
Option 5: Gear Swapping Interacts with Nephalem Valor

All garbage options IMO.

Well in that case they can do away with MF after lvl 60 and just use NV to determine the quality of drops.

I think attack speed would also play a major role. A 1h might give more dps due to increased attack speed.

While I agree with you that the options provided are ridiculous, because having to swap gear during a fight is exactly what Blizz and us whiny kids have been saying all along, its a painful thing to do, but the benefits are too great to be ignored.

Calling gear swapouts during a boss fight a "skill" is laughable. It's a painful because of the clunkyness of the swapouts, not painful in a "grinding" has to be done way.

The thing is, if they implement a hotkey for auto swap between gear, they may as well take the final step and allow you to equip 2 sets of everything and then only your set with the hightest MF counts. which is equally rediculous.


Call me a purist, but if it were up to me I wouldnt allow this manipulation in d3. Having said that, I would prob be in the option 4 corner.

Blizz wouldnt take that stat away. MF gear makes too much $$$$ on the ah.

There are other sites which allow you to fill in all your hero's stats that will give you the exact dps change between items. This comes in handy when shopping for weapons on the AH, I have been burned before buy just thinking that an item with no int but a higher dps would be > than a lower dps with no int. Those calculators fix all that. (Blizz could easily have added the stat changes when doing a mouseover on weapons at the AH and saved us all abit of trouble.

I agree - all garbage options - should have a one button switch.

D3 is about loot - without magic find you really do get a lot of junk (white/grey) being dropped which kind of defeats the purpose of the game - I mean, how interesting is it really to keep squashing monsters (especially when it's your nth time playing through the same story and, albeit slightly randomised in terms of layout, scenery), if not for decent rewards at the end of defeating a mob / boss.

I've evolved into playing almost entirely with my MF gear - I keep the other gear around 'just in case' but so far seem to be doing okay (fair enough, I'm nowhere near Hell or Inferno yet so I know that will change)

Just wish the AH would open - there are two MF rings sitting in my 'won' items that I can't access!
