Bandwidth Tracker Feedback

Hi folks

I am certain most of us had a look at our bandwidth usage after the end of January to make certain we have not been billed for the previous month’s downloads. I would like to give Telkom some feedback on the feeling about the new tracking system, and possible improvements to the system. Can you please give your views on the new system, and a short summary of what you think might improve the system further. I can give no guarantees, but I am certain Telkom will use this information in any future changes to their tracking system.

Mine seems to be accurate. Thanks to those at Telkkom who did put in some effort to improve it.

My bandwidth usage seems to be much higher than I expect.

I am busy with some radical steps in the office (like blocking all internet access at the firewall) and testing for all connections before allowing connections to be made.

Does this tracking system ,infringe our privacy ?

I mean does the "tracking system" collect informations about the sites We visited on the NET ?

The answer: Who cares? Your ISP doesn't need fancy bandwidth trackers to monitor your web browsing habits, they can just look at the logs on the transparent proxy server, or failing that, inspect the actual traffic directly. If you don't want your ISP knowing about your browsing habits, assuming they're running a packet sniffer on your connection, and take appropriate steps to implement countermeasures. There are a variety of mechanisms providing varying levels of anonymity; what will be appropriate for your situation depends on your threat model.

and need federal court order to get access to them if required

privacy is also protected by south african constitution
