Sure if they moan about hunting they are all devout vegans... so at least my biltong is safe!

I went hunting mid July this year for the first time. Shot a red heartbeest and I can say the biltong is delicious. Its something that not everybody would enjoy. I didn't know until I pulled the trigger.
Would I do it again? Yes I would. The whole weekend was fun and social. We were a mixed bunch of guys from 21 to 64 and to cook and tell stories without the SO's was fun.
I don't want to hunt trophies I only want the meat, and I got that. Worked out to more or less at R50/Kg including accommodation, travel etc.
Just one more thing. If you pay someone to murder somebody (Think Anni Dewani), what would you be guilty of?
Whats the difference to hunting or buying meat? You are the reason that cow is dead, because there is a demand from you and millions of other people. Its not for everybody, and I don't mind that.

Now let me get into my tank, and order a carpet bombing of the area. Cause you know. Thats what hunters do
Did I say that you hunt with semi auto's?
I have more knowledge of firearms and their use in my left thumb than you have in your whole body.
I am saying I wish the animals had semi auto rifles.
I have no time or patience for anyone who kills an animal to prove he is a man.
And don't come with this crap about eating the meat afterwards or asking me if I eat meat.
We have discussed this here before.

Didn't you get the memo? Real men kill each other instead of animals.

FYI I killed ants with a magnifying glass. Come at me bro.
    I've made a huge mistake.

Just out of interest, where do you draw the line of whats not allowed to be killed and what is?

I've been hunting a few times and have no issue with it as long as novices like me have someone around that can kill the animal quickly if its wounded but I will rather catch a spider/snake/scorpion/mouse and take it outside than kill it.
Ants are fair game though as they are a real pain.

Yeah, killing something to eat it is wrong but killing someone because you don't like their government...Lock 'n load.

I take issue with people hunting for fun. Thats it plain and simple. And again, dont tell me they eat what they kill. I have heard that a million times.

I have no issue with people fighting wars against other people who are just as armed if not more, sure there are innocent people that get killed and thats sad but humans can defend themselves to a point.
What defense has an animal got?
I really do not think I need to justify my belief that I think hunting animals for fun is wrong.
Maybe people who do this were abused as kids?

When I was younger I was against hunting of any kind and am still against some forms of it (whale/foxes etc). But to be honest, the game probably had a much better life than the livestock kept for slaughter.

This dude straight out said they do. What is it that you don't believe? DJ made a good point. If you point fingers at hunters, do you do the same to fishermen?

To the OP, good on you, why buy prepackaged slaughtered meat when you can go and actively help sustain the wild population by culling a few wild animals to provide food for you and yours!

Do you carry your thumb in a holster then?

Did not see anyone saying that they hunt to prove manhood? If you don't have the time and patience why spend the time and effort to read this thread? Or do you just enjoy sticking your left thumb into every thing?

Been there, done that, got the scars and the t-shirt... Must say however, my left thumb says it takes more skill to hunt an animal though...

What is it with you and your thumb? Do you use your thumb to pull the trigger? wow so you went and did some battle, well done.

Actually no it doesn't, you have the upper hand on an animal that cannot think tactically. but then being such a warrior you already knew that

Just comparing my thumb to yours...

That was my initial thought as well. Suppose it's true if you hunt with a rifle from the back of a bakkie (sort of like bombing a school with a drone). But I was pleasantly surprised walking and stalking game with a bow - they have the upper hand, by far.
