Default What's the difference between a skill and a talent

Is cooking a skill or talent... Give your examples to compare the two maybe Well, if two people walk into an interview, one skilled one talented, which is of better preference.. And lastly, who tends to be more successful financially in life between the two...

Requirements: Avoid using the statement-> Talent without skill is nothing, cause i just did!

you are born with talent and you learn a skill. Usually they will go for skill, as you can track skill development.

But then again, most people can learn a skill but only a few can have a talent.

Talent is natural ability, skill is learned.

Nope, they're too focused. Which is a problem in this country where there's no real need for single minded specialization like that.

talent simply means you have a head start on the road from hacker to meister
talent without a bit of drive to do the graft to acquire and hone the skills is generally wasted

Girls today claim they can't cook, do washing, cleaning, etc. i think they think these things are a talent... Hence you can't gain a talent!

A talented sportsman is the one that has the right build, size, etc to excel in a particular sport and then mastered the skill to be able to use that talents to excel in the sport.
A talented individual or say learner has the talent to grasp quick, understand and solve the problem and have the memory capacity and capability to store/remember the solution. If he then acquire the skills, being taught, to do a particular Job or exercise a specific function then he is referred to as been very talented and/or skilled in his JOB. The one cannot always in certain circumstances be achieved without the other.

In short. If you have the talent you can be taught to exercise a certain function or task and be skilled or acquired the skills to complete/perform the job successfully.

Also think of a talented piano player. Here the Talent is required first, the part that makes you ""musical" and then skill is acquired by lots of practise, practise, practise and dedicated practise.
