Its very disappointing to find that we do not have AOE enthusiasts in the MyADSL community (well I know of at least one...). It could have been so GOOD.

Ja, i suppose many AOE players have now moved to AOMythology. I used to play AOE, then AOE2, and then Mythology. That was until Warcraft3, which which has now replaced all the strategy games i used to play. I think that these strategy games with a role-playing element are replacing the bog-standard strat games like aoe and empire earth etc.
In fact just last week i bought Spellforce, which is just fantastic, definitely half rpg half strat. And the graphics are brilliant. Haven't played online yet though, still on the campaign.[:D]

I saw Spellforce recently, but the game seemed a little buggy. Units not as intelligent as they should be. I suppose a couple of patches should fix that... What has been your experience so far?

There are tons of AOE players in SA, the sales of the game alone should be proof enough. Any AOE players, please mail either BEYERS or me to get a game organized...

well, i have to say, Spellforce has a great single player campaign, can't stop playing the damn thing, lol. One minute, you're playing rpg, with maybe a coupla heroes to tag along with you. Then, you complete your quest,go through the relevant portal, and you're building bases, armies, full on rts, its mad. And the graphics blow me away. There was a big patch, 25 meg i think, so that might have taken care of the bugs. The online action is a bit sparse though, not alot happening, and i've heard that its not too hot, but with JoWood already busy with the exp, they should sort it out. The game is very hungry though, i reckon my AMD XP2000+ with GeForce4 Ti 4200 only just makes the grade.

I for one would surely play AOE with you. Unfortunately i gave telkom back their worthless adsl a month after getting it in exchange for my old isdn 64. If you are willing to handle the slooooowww speed of that i will gladly join your game.

just came across this thread now, my friends and I play AOE just about everyday over tcp/ip, although we do sometimes have problems getting a game started with disconnects and periods where the game hangs.
We play the roman expansion, deathmatch from starting age. You can get us on IRC on the zanet.org.za network on the server

I've always had PC hardware that's a bit 'behind the times' so only managed to start playing AOE about a year ago. Have recently moved onto Empire Earth but am keen for local online..
If i can find my copy of AOE i will join as well .
