To cut a long story short, someone told me about using local bandwidth as international bandwidth.

He said you had to create an account or something to filter it through.

Has anyone heard of this?
If so, could someone give me more information about this.

Thank You

If you have access to another pc that has an internet connection that has international bandwidth (eg. at work, friends place, parents place) you can set up a VPN between your pc and a pc there. Then you route all your traffic through the other machine. This traffic is local only.

There are a few problems with this:
* Doing it without the consent of the other party is a big no no.
* The other party uses 2x the amount of bandwidth you do (they need to download the data from overseas and the upload it back to your pc) so in effect you use 3gigs for every 1gig you download/upload.
* Most internet connections have a very slow upload speed compared to download speed so your connection will be very slow.

But yes, it is possible.

Or using a proxy will work too. Hard to find but there is open proxies

So if you have say free local uncapped bandwidth after cap, as mweb provides, you can get unlimited international if you use open browse?

Screw local to international cap!

I've learnt the secret formula of turning water to chocolate syrup!

and that formula is probably hidden away in your dark basement?

they do exist, but i wonder if anyone is going to be "STUPID" enough to relay info about a free local proxy server to the masses on a public forum

if such a open proxy was to be made public, it won't last long before sysadmin shut it down

>>>THINK before blabbing any info about local open proxies to friends, family(lol) and even worse the public.

No one said that it had to be posted publicly, PM me if you know of one.

I think that openbrowse also has restrictions on how much you can use... and then it is either throttled or capped. Read the fine print.

Also, don't you have to have an OpenWeb account to begin with (i.e. you cannot use any other ISP's account with OpenBrowse)?

openweb only lets you http files leSs than 128 kilobyte if i remember right? i sepose if you had root on a fast uncapped static server you could script a proxy, i'd imagine they wouldn't be too happy if they found out.
