I was staring into my crystal ball[:p] and I saw what is about to happen...
1. The existing ADSL product that most of us use, will receive a 10GB monthly cap. Yes, Telscum will shift the goalposts.
2. The 3GB cap will still remain as is, with same effect on international traffic.
3. Once the account (not line) has reached the 10GB, the account will be capped and no further usage will be possible.[8]
Telscum have wisened up to the abuse/loopholes (zahub et al) in the ADSL product and will close them up chop chop.
Now all that we can do is wait to see if this happens...

yep, if this rumour of a 10 GB cap is true, then I too see this happening. My question is this, are telksum legally allowed to continuely degrade a product and still charge more for it. ADSL ISP accounts were increased recently.

Grubman, Telkom get away with most things. There is probably some fine print which nobody has picked up on, but that aside, legal proceedings could take years with our highly *<i>cough</i>* efficient and *<i>cough</i>* vigilant regulator or legal system.[8]

Grub, Telkom can do what they like,as they only have to supply best effort service, whatever THAT means. Of course if you don't like their service you can always go to the alternative. Can't you? Am I missing something?[:o)]

Thats a good question, best effort in whose opinion, they already say that the cap is in place to protect users from a small minority who use ADSL for use that it was not designed for....they didn't invent it, so how can they say what it was designed for. So "Best Effort" is what thay, and not the customer, says it is. A poor effort.

Hey Dom, chill a bit. Telkom has the right to do this and perhaps that is the thing that is making you itchy... Maybe some of these quotes from the AUP on Telkom's website will make you scratch some more [:p]

My not so crystal but perspex blob tells me this...

Telkom, figuring they "know" what ADSL was designed for will figure out that TCP/IP is the root of all that is evil...It is, after all, what drives P2P...And they will summarily, and without warning, block all access attempts to their servers from this devilish protocol that eats up their expensive bandwidth!!

I think so their policy makers are sooo uneducated in terms of ADSL, they've probably already tried.
