    Default 10 Casino secrets

Here are 10 casino secrets - this is why they always win...

    From: http://www.casinosa.co.za/showthread.php?t=58

    1. The Casino always wins. All machines or table games are carefully selected before they are implemented in Casinos. No Casino will ever implement a machine or table game unless the odds are in their favour.

    2. Casino flooring, e.g. carpets, is always very unattractive. They are designed in such a manner as to keep your eyes off the floor and looking at the gaming section.

    3. There are no clocks in casinos. You will not find a casino with a large clock indicating time in the gambling section. This is done on purpose to keep your mind away from keeping track of time. Even dealers will not wear watches.

    4. Casino layouts have been developed to be confusing. The reason is to keep visitors walking around looking for exits. This is a sure way of getting the visitor spending a few extra minutes on the casino floor.

    5. Alcohol are offered free of charge to gamblers playing at tables. This is also done for a reason, getting you to lose concentration while playing. The casino knows that you will in all likelihood not drink more than 5-10 glasses of alcohol per night playing, but the money you are playing will make up for the drinks and much more!

    6. Shops inside a casino are always located around the gambling sections and never in a different location. They always attempt to keep your attention focussed on the gambling floors.

    7. Entertainment in casinos, such as music shows, sports events, etc., is always limited to the shortest possible time period. The longer the show the less time visitors will spend on the gambling floor. A common rule is that shows are limited to 90 120 minutes.

    8. If you are on a winning streak making tens or hundreds of thousands continuously, casinos may and probably will ban you from making use of their facilities. This is done to protect their money.

    9. Casinos have two types of slot machines Loose or Tight. Loose machines are frequently paying money, whereas tight machines do not. Loose machines are always placed in prominent areas, such as walkways so that visitors can see and hear these machines paying.

    10. Casinos lightening are always designed in a manner to simulate daylight. Gambling areas are also designed not to be close to doorways to the outside of the casino. This is to keep players inside in an environment making them feel comfortable.

Nice mix of myths and facts in that list. Also I don't know if promoting your own site is allowed on these forums.

    But as to your list:

    1. Of course casino games are in the house's favor, they are there to make money. It's a business like any other.

    3. Quite true, clocks are not part of a casino's decor but dealers are allowed to wear watches, it just is not actually practical as it restricts the range of movement and speed that a dealers hands require.

    5. Alcohol is free at tables but tends to be based on the amount that a punter plays and is not the same for everyone. Also normally limited to either soft drinks or low alcoholic beverages for example beers rather than hard tack.

    7. Most shows, events, sports etc are 90-120mins in duration.

    8. Utter rubbish. Rather the casino or any gambling institution knows that a punter who wins will bring the same money right back eventually and actually give the best possible promotion of the casino because of their big win.

    9. Slot machine banks are configured to a payout percentage, restricted to a "bank" of machines or individually as layed out by gambling regulations and checked by the local gaming board. Ever seen the "dream machine"? I've seen that bank pay out 3 times in one night, same location.

As to my knowledge on this, I worked in a casino for a few years as part of the gaming staff. I actually find it quite interesting the myths that have popped up over the years.

I have won HUGE amounts at Casinos.....the secret is to study one machine and always stick to it.

I now play online and have the whole casino to pick and choose where I want to play.
I only play 1 slot machine and often win nice amounts!

    Online gambling ftw!

I've "won" a fair amount in online gambling before, but I end up spending it the same night purely out of greed When I play I never play more than R100 and I know that it's gone the moment I deposit it

At Grand West I've walked off with R4,500 before. I don't gamble often, but I love the feeling of seeing those numbers go up and up and up

I'm prepared to bet (oh the irony!) that you've also lost money more often, possibly in smaller amounts but cumulatively more than you've won.

Tables are more exciting than the machines..
But with gambling, you win sometimes, lose most times.. So its not a valid income. If you gamble for fun, then its good. Play R200 or so a month.. (Sticking to that limit is the hard part )

Don't machines pay out something like 15-20% of what people put in them?

No, normaly in the 90% range. Even at 98%, the house still makes a killing. Set the machine any lower than 90% and no-one plays it.
