Aw geez - smack it on its bottom first, holding it upside down: if that doesn't work, use compressed air under the key: and if that still doesn't work, whack yourself upside the head and take it to their support people (if you're prepared to spend mega-bucks) - my recommendation: get a better laptop...

Well you could use my method for a cleaning keboard, take it outside and hose it down... of course it's generally not attached to a laptop [;)]

try to pop the key out. take a money pin open it then shove it under the key push. works on a normal keyboard but then again a normal keyboard costs R50. ur risk

Kameraad, your best bet is to buy a cheap keyboard and plug it into the laptop, if there's a socket available. Of course, this means lugging the damn keyboard with you in future...

Choice of laptop is largely a resultant of personal circumstances and preferences - IMHO, there is only one real consideration when purchasing a laptop, viz. the need for portability. All other considerations are largely personal. For example, if you've got the bucks, you can look at an expensive Sony Vaio, Apple or Toshiba whatever. If you don't, there's HP/Compaq, IBM, etc. If money is really a problem, then you'll have to opt for the Mustek/Rectron stuff, which includes Mecer, AOpen, and so on. There's also a few importers that bring in Taiwanese stuff, like Genicom/Micropro, which is reasonably cheap. You'll have to weigh up cost against other considerations like service, durability, product features, etc.

Personally I prefer my own assembled boxes, which I can mod if necessary (one can't do this with a laptop, obviously). I do still use an old IBM Thinkpad Pentium 1 laptop on occasion, largely when the need for portability arises...
